About

Hello and nice to meet you.

I am an artist, illustrator and graphic designer.

Born and raised near Los Angeles, I now make my home in the Pacific Northwest, but am quite happy on a sunny SoCal beach.

My work pulls from many sources; technical, fantastical, and philosophical.

Technical- comes from my 15+ years of professional graphic design work. It also comes from my classical illustration education.

Fantastical aspects of my work  are influenced by a childhood surrounded by Japanese myth and culture with fantastical creatures like the Kappa, and Daruma and Lucky cats… Disneyland was a constant in my childhood, and I was exposed to art from Mary Blair - a midcentury modern artist known for "Its a Small World" art.

One of the pioneers of abstract art,  Vassily Kandinsky had an art philosophy that speaks to my heart- color has a rhythm, a sound, a note, and together, for a painting, it makes a song. Also, he believed strongly that art must leave the viewer better off than before they saw it.

I learned about his work and art theories in college but it wasn't until about 5 years later that I started to apply it to my own work. I began working intuitively, without planning an outcome, rather, seeing what emerges and “speaks to you” when you paint. A total reverse of how I was trained in college.

A few fun facts about me:

• I have a BioMedical Art Certificate (I studied anatomy, biology and made very technical art)

• I collect vintage Kokeishi dolls, Kitsch and especially vintage Christmas items

• I love anything Kawaii

• I am a fraternal twin

Her work is part of the Lebanon, Oregon Strawberry Park public art project and she has been a member of the Corvallis Arts walk, where she enjoyed interacting with the public and fostering interest in the arts.
